Creating Embroidery Quilts

Embroidery is a form of decorative stitching on any fabric. It is either done by hand or by machines using various kinds of colored threads, cotton or silk, metallic thread or embroidery floss. Embroidery is a very ancient art form which has been passed on from generation to generation through ages. It is based on the concept that various designs and pictures are created by stitching strands of thread onto a fabric.

Embroidery Quilts mainly requires the use embroidery thread, wool or cotton to stitch designs in a patchwork structure.

There are several different types of embroidery stitches varying from culture to culture and also varying upon the geographical location of its origin. Hence in today's times it offers the quilter/embroiderer a wide variety of designs and patterns to add to their quilt. Patchwork quilts generally employ embroidery as a form of extra decoration.

The craft of hand embroidery is considered to be a painstaking and laborious process, however can also prove to be very satisfying if you create something that can be handed down through generations and becomes a heirloom within your family.

However, owing to the ever growing rate of development of modern technology, very advanced embroidery machines are now available which consume very less effort on the user's part. Also nowadays most of the new sewing machines have many embroidery patterns that they can quickly and very simply create on your chosen block, sometimes just at the press of a button !.
